This is the rejected preliminary sketch for the cover art of "Magic Item Compendium" from Wizards of the Coast. I used a photo from one of those "action pose for illustrators" type books; I don't recall what the exact book title was, sorry. The model was a bald guy, wearing dark pants and no shirt if anyone recognizes the book I am talking about. Anyway this was rejected because another artist had used the EXACT SAME POSE for another recent book cover. What are the odds?
I suppose thats the risk with using those kinda books. But models are expensive - I sometimes use my digital camera and work out poses (unfortunately I have a less than heroic physique so that only helps a little). All the same, I love it, especially the energetic brush strokes and the framing.
wow.... I love the roughtness of some parts of the drawing. The blade although very simple is really realistic and looks very nice..
The movement in the pic is awsomely drawn.
I really love this one..

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
